Windows Vista DreamScene is an application built into Vista Ultimate which enables you to play videos (mpeg and wmv) as your desktop background. If you want to know more about it read here.
For non-Vista Ultimate users: If you have any edition of Windows Vista other than Ultimate, you probably don't have Vista DreamScene installed. It was made only for Ultimate; however, with some searching I found a patch that enables you to use DreamScene in any version of Vista. For getting DreamScene on your Vista operating system, click here.
Anyhow, I've created a few DreamScene clips for fun using Adobe Premiere. Each clip is kinda big as I wanted the best quality out of them as I could get and wanted decent length clips. The download links are provided below.
4/9/2008 Update
Tom Clancy: H.A.W.X - Download (37.2 mb, high quality, duration: 1 min, 2 sec)
New Dream Scenes
FF:Advent Children (Life Stream) - Download (14.6 mb, medium quality, duration: 24 sec)
FF:Advent Children (Jenova sign/under water) - Download (3.25 mb, medium quality, duration: 5 sec)
FF:Advent Children (Sephiroth in flames) - Download (5.10 mb, medium quality, duration: 9 sec)
FF:Advent Children (Cloud vs Sephiroth Battle) - Download (101 mb, medium quality, duration: 2 min, 55 sec)
Dream Scenes
Gran Turismo 5: GT-TV GTR Segment - Download (8.9 mb, low quality, duration: 26 sec)
Final Fantasy XIII Trailer - Download (42.1 mb, high quality, duration: 1 min,9 sec)
Star Craft II (Marine being deployed scene) - Download (105 mb, high quality, duration: 2 min,56 sec)
Star Craft II (Protoss vs Marines Epic Battle) - Download (88.2 mb, high quality, duration: 2 min,16 sec)
Blood Cells (From Requiem: Bloodymare Trailer) - Download (3.96 mb, high quality, duration: 7 sec)
Forza 2 Video (Pretty intense) - Download (25.2 mb, high quality, duration: 22 sec)
For some insight on performance, each of these videos using DreamScene utilizes anywhere from 5-10% of my CPU. Also, the last two videos loop seamlessly or very close. The other videos are longer so seamless looping isn't really an issue.
Enjoy the dream scenes!

Thanks very much for the wmv's.. Did you use Fraps to capture these? If so, once captured what program did you use to convert? I am more of a First Person Shooter fan and would like to use vids from some of my favorite games..
Thanks for your help in advance...
Also, here's to Washington..I live here as well. (South Sound)

I actually took them from GameTrailers.com and spliced/converted them into WMV format. Though FRAPS would work fine as well. I used Adobe Premiere CS3 to convert them.
Oh, and I live near Olympia ![]()
